Breast Uplift (Mastopexy)

Breast ptosis (droopiness) can develop naturally with age, after breast feeding, or weight loss. Mastopexy corrects this and lifts the breast and nipple, restoring it to its original position on the chest. It will also improve the shape and projection of your breast.

Fat transfer may occasionally be used in combination with mastopexy, to enhance your surgical results. Some women may benefit from using mesh to maintain the longevity of their uplift. After a detailed consultation, Dr Victoria will recommend a bespoke plan tailored to your individual needs.

  • A consultation is necessary to determine whether a mastopexy is appropriate for you. During your consultation, Dr Victoria will inquire about your medical history, including any past breast surgeries or childbirth.

Ideal candidates for a mastopexy are women who are emotionally stable, in good health, and have realistic expectations regarding the outcomes of the surgery.

Smaller, drooping breasts tend to yield the best results, although breasts of any size can be lifted. However, the outcomes may not last as long for those with larger breasts. Mastopexies are generally not performed until breasts are fully developed, though women of all ages may benefit.

As with any cosmetic surgery, it is necessary to undergo a consultation with Dr Victoria to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. We encourage you to ask any questions you may have, particularly those concerning your expectations and any concerns you may have about the outcome.

  • If a woman's breasts have drooped and appear "empty," particularly in the upper area, a simple uplift may not produce satisfactory results. In such instances, the addition of a breast implant to increase volume may be necessary. Therefore, a breast augmentation and uplift procedure are usually performed together. Dr Victoria will discuss this option with you during your consultation.

  • Contrary to popular belief, breast uplift surgery is generally not as painful as people anticipate. The use of newer techniques has made the procedure less invasive and consequently less traumatic. Following the surgery, you may experience mild to moderate pain, but painkillers will be provided to manage it effectively. Typically, pain improves and disappears within the first 4-5 days after the procedure.

  • Scarring is a normal occurrence following any surgery and is not considered a complication. With a breast uplift, the length of the scars will vary depending on the degree of sagging and the technique employed.

Although the scars are located around and below the nipples, they should not be visible, even in low-cut clothing or swimsuits. Initially, the scars may appear red, raised, lumpy, and even itchy, but they will gradually fade and flatten over time, which is a natural part of the healing process. Daily massage of the scars during this period is recommended to expedite and facilitate the healing process. Additionally, Dr Victoria's office can provide you with special silicone gel sheets that can improve the appearance of the scars when applied.

However, it's important to note that no reputable surgeon can guarantee the ultimate appearance of the scars.

  • The length of time that the dressings remain in place after your surgery will depend on the procedure performed but this typically ranges from 10 to 14 days. Dr Victoria provides a specialist post- surgical bra that aids in the healing process.

  • Breast uplift surgery involves various fees, including a surgeon fee, an anaesthetist fee, and a hospital fee. The cost also covers all pre-operative and post-operative care. While the price may differ slightly depending on your individual needs, we will provide you with a comprehensive quote after your consultation.
