Inverted nipples affect 10% of the population and can occur in both women and men. Nipple inversion correction is a procedure that corrects the appearance of an inverted nipple so that it protrudes normally.

Nipple inversion can be a congenital condition, present from birth, or can be acquired later in life due to changes in the breast tissue or milk ducts. Inverted nipple correction surgery addresses this by releasing the tethers pulling the nipple inwards, restoring its natural, outward projection. This procedure will also improve the overall aesthetic of the areola and can create better breast symmetry. Inverted nipples can be caused by short milk ducts , previous surgery or conditions like scarring or breastfeeding changes.

The procedure involves surgically releasing the tight tissue beneath the nipple to allow the nipple to project outward. This can be done surgically with well-hidden incisions around the nipple.

Most patients heal within 1-2 weeks, with minor swelling and discomfort. You can resume gentle activities in 2 weeks but should avoid exercise for at least 4 weeks.

Some temporary numbness is possible, but most patients retain normal nipple sensation. The risk of permanent sensitivity changes depends on the severity of the nipple inversion and amount of surgical release needed.

Breastfeeding will be affected if the procedure requires cutting the milk ducts. In mild cases, ducts can be preserved.
